Appeal contacts

Choose a channel for the type of detection you want reviewed. Contact availability and acceptance are controlled by the vendor.

How to request a review

File review

Trellix documents sample review through its Advanced Research Center and support service requests; VirusTotal lists a dedicated data-submission email.

  1. For the Trellix verdict shown in a VirusTotal report, use the VT-listed email and include the report URL, exact engine name, file hash and detection details.
  2. If you are a Trellix customer, open a service request in the Trellix support portal and provide the false-positive sample.
  3. Explain the file's legitimate purpose and follow the team's sample-submission instructions.
  • The email [email protected] is confirmed in VirusTotal's directory, not by an email delivery test.
  • Trellix and McAfee have separate current submission routes. Use the brand and engine shown in the report.

Detection rules review

General preparation checklist. A separate vendor-specific workflow for this report type has not been independently checked.

  1. Record the rule identifier, matched indicator and the report URL.
  2. Use a listed contact that accepts this indicator type. If the listed route handles a different type, ask the vendor or project for the responsible review team.
  3. Explain why the detection appears incorrect and include supporting evidence. Follow the recipient’s instructions before sending a sample.

Scope & contact notes

  • VirusTotal does not specify an indicator type for this contact. Confirm that the recipient handles your exact file, URL or rule result.
