VENDOR APPEAL GUIDE

Opera false positive?
Here’s where to start.

Opera publishes a General Security Inquiry form. This is a general security contact, not a dedicated VirusTotal appeal queue. For an Opera browser warning, its published guidance is to identify the underlying blocklist provider and report a mistake to that provider.

How to request a review

Website / URL review

Opera publishes a General Security Inquiry form. This is a general security contact, not a dedicated VirusTotal appeal queue. For an Opera browser warning, its published guidance is to identify the underlying blocklist provider and report a mistake to that provider.

  1. If Opera displays a warning, select ‘Why was this page blocked?’ to identify the provider behind it. Request a review from that provider.
  2. For an unexplained Opera verdict in VirusTotal, open General Security Inquiry. Enter your email and a concise summary; select the relevant Opera product or Other.
  3. Suggested details: the exact URL or domain, the VirusTotal report link, the Opera detection label, and evidence explaining why the classification is incorrect. Ask which team or upstream provider can review it.
  • The form does not promise to change VirusTotal verdicts. Opera's browser can use external blocklist providers.
