How to request a review

File review

Commtouch became Cyren. Varist acquired Cyren's anti-malware products; the file-engine review route is distinct from Cyren's former URL and email services.

  1. Email Varist support and identify the historical Commtouch engine name shown by VirusTotal.
  2. Include the file SHA-256, VirusTotal report URL, detection label and evidence of legitimate use.
  3. Ask whether the team can review the legacy engine result; follow its current sample-submission instructions.
  • This is a legacy name. The successor relationship does not guarantee that a historical VirusTotal verdict can still be changed.
  • The support address is listed in VirusTotal's current contact directory; email delivery has not been tested.

Scope & contact notes

  • Listed in VirusTotal search-prefix documentation but absent from the contributor roster snapshot; this is not proof the engine is currently active.
  • This name appears in a VirusTotal engine-prefix list or contact table but is not matched to a current contributor entry. Current engine activity is unconfirmed.
